Pruitt Playschool (LetterT)

The letter "T" is so much fun for a little boy!! We had so much fun with tools and trucks while we studied our letter this week!!  Last week when I went to the library, they were having a quilt show and book sale and I found some really neat books for 25 cents!! One of the books I bought was a book on how to make home-made toys!  I am having so much fun looking through the book and trying to make some toys.  The first toy I "made" was a golf tee hammering toy.  I just took some golf tees and used an empty diaper box and let Owen hammer the tees into the box.  He LOVED this!! He must have played with this for over 30 minutes!

Introducing the letter "T".

Reciting the Bible verse for the week.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Proverbs 3:5

Tissue paper art!! This was another activity that he LOVED!!  This was also his first time to use the liquid glue.  He did well and this activity kept his attention much longer than I thought.

I had a lot of leftover foam stickers from our homemade stamps so I had him sort the trains and trucks.  I modeled how to sort them first then he took off and sorted the rest!

This was my favorite activity for the week while we studied the letter "T". We took advantage of the nice weather one afternoon and went outside and washed our trucks with an old toothbrush!  It's amazing how much fun a little boy can have with a pan of soapy water, an old toothbrush and some trucks!  No if only we could get him to brush his teeth as thorough as he did those trucks! :)

Fall Festival

Justin's school hosts a Fall Festival every year with lots of fun activities for the kiddos. This year our playgroup surprised our husbands and ordered the toddlers matching scrubs to match their daddy's!! We were so excited about them! During playgroup last week, we put the kids in the scrubs and had them waiting on their daddy's to come over for lunch! All of the dads were surprised and thought they were really cute!

This is 3 of the 4 toddlers waiting on lunch!  We tried and tried to get a good picture of them in their matching scrubs but this is the best we got! Ha!

Owen calls the stethoscope his "heart" so he had to wear his "heart" to the Fall Festival.  He also grabbed his bear and insisted on taking him as well.  While we were getting ready to leave, Owen found a size sticker that I had just taken off my new sweater and put it on his bear and was pretending it was a Band-Aid!!  He kept up with his "heart", Mr. Bear and Mr. Bear's Band Aid throughout the entire Fall Festival!

They had some cute games for the kids to play.  In this game Owen had to shoot a ping pong ball off the bottle using a water gun! :)

Owen got a pumpkin painted on his hand!

We took the kids to campus this weekend and took some pictures! The campus is beautiful!

This was at an amphitheater on campus.  Owen loved running around in the grass!

Pruitt Playschool (Letter S)

We had a lot of fun studying the letter "S" last week!

We sorted skittles into rinse cups!! This was difficult for him at first because he thought he was supposed to eat them instead of sort them! After eating a few to start with, he sorted them with no problem! :)

I would recommend getting the regular size bag of whatever you are going to sort!  The Share Size bag is no joke!

Tracing the letter "S" with our cement truck!

Coloring the letter "S" with his left hand! :)

Playing with stamps! I made these stamps using lids from juice, milk, syrup, anything else with a lid and stick on foam shapes!  They work really well and Owen had a good time stamping!  This was his first time using stamps so it was little messy but I think he will get the hang of it soon!

Practicing saying the letter "S" and the sound it makes.

Reciting his Bible verse for the week. I'm still amazed at how well he remembers the verse after just repeating it a couple of times!  He even remembers his verse from the week before! :)

Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.    Collasians 3:2

Owen and Grace Ann's Room

I was so excited to get moved into our Harrogate house and decorate the kids rooms!  In our Huntsville house, Owen's room was gender neutral so it was so much fun to make his room into a little boys room when we moved.  We didn't even bother decorating a room for Grace Ann before we moved since we knew we would be moving so soon after she was born.

I wanted to share pictures of their rooms for our friends and family that haven't gotten a chance to see our Harrogate house! :)

On a side note...Justin is over half way finished with his first semester of medical school!! YAY!!

This is Owen's room looking in from his doorway!!

His reading nook!

We reused his letters that were hanging over his crib at the Huntsville house and painted them to look like a road! :)

View from his closet. I love his room looking like a boys room after having a "baby" room in the Huntsville house!

I still smile every time I walk past Grace Ann's room!!  I love seeing PINK!! :)

Grace Ann's reading corner! We were inspired to decorate her room in black and white after we saw this chair!  I LOVE this chair!! :)

The dress hanging above her bed was the dress I wore when I came home from the hospital and then eventually the same one Grace Ann wore when we brought her home.

Pruitt Playschool (Letter R)

I have been wanting to do some sort of educational activity with Owen since he is at home with me everyday.  So...when my friend Michelle shared one of her friends blogs with me I became inspired to create my own little "school" for Owen. I am going to teach Owen the alphabet by doing fun little crafts and activities for each letter. I will spend one week on each letter beginning with the letter "R".

One day after nap, we made red rice crispy treats!  Owen had a blast helping me make them!

I put up a magnetic white board under his bulletin board and put letters on the board.  He goes on a letter hunt to find the letter we are learning about for the week.

More fun with magnetic letters!

I found some very easy Bible verses for him to memorize each week that start with the letter we are learning!  I really just thought he would repeat the verse after me and I would call it a success, but he actually memorized it!!  After we said the blessing on Monday night, we were telling daddy about his Bible verse and he recited it!!  We had a lot of fun this week calling everyone and having him recite his verse!  I just melts your heart!

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Philippians 4:4

We traced the letter "R" with our cement truck on Monday morning to introduce the letter!

We made a ribbon collage with leftover ribbon that we had from Grace Ann's hair bows.  He was not very interested in putting the ribbon on the paper but was VERY interested in how the glue stick tasted!

This is picture of the bulletin board outside of Owen's room with the work we did last week with the letter "R"!
