Pruitt Playschool (Letter B)

We had Big fun studying the letter "B" the past two weeks! There is so much fun stuff to do with the letter "B" and we didn't even get to do all that I wanted!

Our bible verse for the week(s):
You are the light of the world.  Matthew 5:14

We started about by making the letter "B" with dot paint.

We had a little fun with shaving cream this week!!  I planned on letting Owen trace the letter with the shaving cream but that didn't happen.  The kids started out just rubbing it around on the table...

Then Owen rubbed a little on his belly and head...

Then over his entire body...Grace Ann followed. :) They both had a blast with shaving cream! I had to keep Grace Ann's paci in so she wouldn't eat it!!

We made a butterfly and painted it with a brush.

The weather has been beautiful lately so we took advantage of it a lot this week! Michelle went to the local newspaper and got some big rolls of paper for us! I rolled some of it out on the driveway and we made a painting using balloons!!

Owen enjoyed painting with balloons!

Grace Ann enjoyed a snack while Owen painted.

Before we made a bee, Owen and his daddy looked at bees on the Internet!

Owen glued black stripes on the bee by himself!  The bee turned out looking like a road but he did it by himself!

Owen loves to sort things so we sorted balls (pom poms) into light blue and dark blue.

I wrote down some letters and Owen put dot paint on all the "B's".

Knoxville Zoo

Last weekend we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to the Knoxville Zoo! Last summer we bought a membership to the zoo so we have been several times since then and hope to go more often now that the weather is getting warmer!

Owen LOVES elephants! He sleeps with a huge stuffed elephant and has at least 3 other elephants he plays with.  The elephant exhibit is really nice at the Knoxville zoo and we usually head straight to see them.

This time the elephants were in their "house" when we first got to the zoo so we went in to get a look. Owen wouldn't let go of Justin or lift his head up to see the elephants in their "house".  I think he is just so excited or maybe a little scared that they are so close.  So...this is what he did the entire time we were in there!

My attempt to get a picture of the kids together...

The female lions put on a show for us!! They were growing and fighting right in front of us! People came running to see what the fuss was about!

The elephants finally came out of their "house"!

I think Owen could stay there all day and watch the elephants!

Grace Ann enjoyed the afternoon at the zoo also!

Grace Ann's Room

I have been wanting to clean up/organize the area under Grace Ann's window for a while and I was so excited to come across a neat idea on Pintrest a few weeks ago!

This is what the area looked like before...

And this is what it looks like now...

Look at those lips!!

The black containers are filing crates with a piece of wood covered in fabric.  So now we have somewhere to store her toys and stuffed animals and also a place for the kiddos to sit! :)

I'm really happy with the way they turned out and they were super easy to make!

This is the view out of Grace Ann's window!  It is so pretty and we have seen several deer in the field behind our house.

Pruitt Playschool (Letter V)

Since we were celebrating Valentine's Day, I thought we would learn about the letter "V"!  We had lots of fun doing Valentine's crafts the past two weeks!

Our bible verse: Love one another.  1 John 3:23

We made a vase out of contruction paper, pipe cleaners, and tissue paper.

I cut out big and little hearts and had Owen sort them by size.  I modeld the first one and then he caught on and finished sorting by himself.

Dot painting the letter "V".  Notice his awesome hair!

We painted hearts using a toilet paper roll! This was a super easy and fun craft I found on Pintrest!

We made a volcano!! I was so excited about this and he LOVED it!! We have had some beautiful weather so it was so nice to be able to do this outside!! Owen enjoyed pouring all of the ingredients into our volcano and Grace Ann enjoyed watching her big brother while she snacked on some cheerios.

Watching the volcano erupt....for the 5th time! :) He would have stayed out there for several more hours if I had let him! The volcano was a hit!

Another pintrest craft! I made the letter "V" with tape and let him paint the paper will violet paint! After he finished painting we took the take off to see the letter "V"!

I found an old medicine dropper and filled up a small bowl of water and let Owen drop colored water into an empty ice tray! This entertained him for a long time! I had to help him at first but he learned pretty quickly how to do it himself.

We have used the iPad a lot lately and have found some really neat apps! My favorite one right now is called EduKitty.  It has the following activities: left-right, top-bottom, sound match, shapes, colors, memory, match pairs, shadows, alphabet, numbers, find the different object, find the smallest object, find the biggest object. It's wonderful!!

Valentine's Day Party

The kids went to a Valentine's Day party at Michelle's house on Monday and had so much fun! It was the regular "core" group plus a few others! I decided to make some Valentine's this year instead of buying some and I thought they turned out pretty cute! :) Owen is OBSESSED with animals right now so we went with an animal theme for his Valentines!

I made Grace Ann's out of scrapbook paper and Tootsie Roll Pops!

Grace Ann and Andrew playing at the party.

The older kids decorated white bags for their Valentine's.

Michelle made heart shaped grilled cheese sandwiches and pink lemonade for lunch!

Cute decorations made by Michelle!

Kendra made some yummy cupcakes! Cheers!!

I made the kids Valentine's Day shirts! I tried to take a picture of them together but that was just not happening so individual pictures it is! :)
